I am an Australian landscape painter who has been painting and exhibiting since the 1970s. I live in Melbourne where I studied Fine Art at university and my work is held in collections both in Australia and overseas. I employ a limited colour palette to achieve my atmospheric artistic effects and choose to portray the landscape in transitory weather situations dominated by dramatic skies, with contrasting light providing the main focus. The visual effect of changing light retains an ongoing fascination as does the desire to capture the immediacy of a particular climatic situation. My work reflects the unpredictability of nature with the emphasis on transitory experience, paralleling our own fleeting existence and the relativity of our significance within the natural environment.
